Found Earring

Posted in Family, Jon Crispin, Nature by joncrispin on 23/03/2014

Cristine really likes earrings and when I travel, I will often pick up a pair for her if they are unique and not too expensive.  On one of my trips somewhere in the vicinity of Lake Erie, I saw a pair made from glass that had been worn smooth by the action of the sand and waves. /  About a month ago we went for a long snowshoe walk in the woods above our house.  Later that day she realized that one of the earrings was missing.  It always bums her out to lose one.  I am usually optimistic about finding lost jewelry; it seems to be a Krieghoff family thing that has come down through the generations.  My mom definitely had it and I got it from her.   Late this morning I was outside just off the deck taking a leak and I looked down and saw this.

With all the freezing and thawing, it was stuck pretty well in ice, but I ran inside and grabbed a butter knife and dug it out.  The non-silver metal loop is a bit rusty, but it will clean up nicely.

    Yeeeees! Congratulations on finding it.
I had the same thing happen about a month ago, only mine was a car key.
    Have a wonderful week ahead!

Oooooh… I need the Krieghoff family luck. I ‘hid’ my favorites that my mom had given me and can’t find them anywhere. This gives me a little hope.

…and then you dropped it and it landed on its side, perfectly balanced. Sha-zam!

HI Hank. So nice to hear from you. It is still cold here, but we are starting to look for puppies. We met the most beautiful black lab on a walk yesterday named Karl. A real beautiful boy.

Yes, something similar happened when I was a child. My Mother had a lovely pair of drop earrings with a blue bead at the end. She did not have pierced ears so these were the screw on type. We went to a dance as a family and sometime during the evening my Mother told me she lost one of her earrings. We looked all over the dance floor for it. We gave up after a while. Later that night I got up from sleep to go to the bathroom and as I was sitting on the john, my sleepy eyes were staring at the floor and there was my Mothers missing earring. My Mother has passed but I now have those earrings in my jewelry box.

Beth, thanks for your comment. So nice that you have that memory of your mother. All best, Jon
