Fenway at Night
Peter, Cris, and I went to a Red Sox game last night. It was an absolutely perfect night for baseball; temperature in the mid-70s and a constant light breeze from the south. In the bottom of the first, Carl Crawford hit a double off the monster and was then picked off second when he wandered a bit too far from the base. That pretty much sums up the season. It has been a tough year for the club. But still, baseball on a beautiful summer’s evening. Can’t be beat (unlike the Sox who lost 6-3).
I normally pay attention to the underdog Red Sox about this time of year, but for some reason the Orioles are still around! Living in Baltimore in ’88 when they started the season with 21 losses still leaves me amazed when they are above .500.
I know that’s what sports are all about==competition==. too bad there isn’t more COOPERATION in the world. I’ve always felt that sports are a sibliminal replacement for man’s (& women’s) something unknown to me as I see no worldly greatness in it; even with the Olympics which to me are not interesting at all. The world has so
many problems that arise from this competitiveness that cause more problems than anyone will ever know. To me games suck and so does competition.
what needs moderating? none of my words are “cussed”, I realize I am in a Minority as NBC’s ratings are
probably high with this “O”limp-ick broadcast. Forgive my hatred of all SPORTS that have always turned me
off; even as a small child I’d fall asleep with my Father’s boxing match on TV in another room. I simply HATE
all sports as they serve no real purpose. forgive my computer illiteracy this is still Robyn
I do not understand what you mean with my “words needing moderation”. OH, I just figured it out- you are all
sports NUTS so perhaps I’ve offended you with my words. Feel free to delete but this IS one thing wrong with
the world. compete, compete WHO CARES WHO W I N S. sports are a WASTE OF TIME but they sure do make alot of money. Cooperation, is not competitive enough; or something, why does there always have to be a winner and a looser… Robyn, who now signs off
