Snow in Coastal Carolina

It was strangely beautiful here today.  Rain then freezing rain then sleet then snow.  At least a couple of inches on the ground.  We didn’t make it to the beach today and the Olive is getting a bit eager to go for a swim.  It will be a tad warmer tomorrow with sunshine.

Wishing you all a happy and productive 2018.  Thanks for following this silly little blog.

This is the annual Polar Bear Plunge on the island.  It takes a special kind of person to run into the Atlantic when the outside temperature is 30 degrees.

We are supposed to have snow this weekend along with very cold temperatures.  I didn’t want to lose these guys to the weather before I got the chance to take some pictures.  Nature!

Olive Takes a Dip

Olive

I think I post a version of this photograph more than I probably should.  We have had a ton of rain in the past few days, and Olive and I had a lovely wet walk in the woods this afternoon.  But for some reason, the water, the leaves, and the dog make me feel quite happy and I wanted to share it.

I had a nice little walk in the woods today with the dog.  We don’t have any snow, but there is ice.

Pansy / Cyclamen

pansy

Even with the recent freezing nights, there are still some pansies in bloom outside.

This cyclamen lives outside in the warm months, and we bring it in before the first freeze.  It always starts blooming as soon as it comes in the house.

To those of you who celebrate the day, have a happy and peaceful Thanksgiving.

Paperwhites, Again

Posted in Flowers, Nature, Plants, Weather by joncrispin on 16/02/2015

This batch is just starting to blossom.  Five bulbs for less than 5 bucks.  It is simply the easiest and cheapest way to momentarily escape the winter.  A glass bowl, some small stones, a few bulbs, a bit of water, et voila!

First Snow with Olive

Posted in Dogs, Weather by joncrispin on 14/11/2014

We had a lovely light snow today.  Olive was a bit confused by it, but ultimately had fun running around.

Iris / Bleeding Hearts

Posted in Flowers, Nature, Plants, Travel, Weather by joncrispin on 31/05/2014

When I left Short Hills, NJ this morning it was clear and breezy with very low humidity.  The drive home was uneventful, but as I got into Massachusetts it had become mostly cloudy.  I didn’t hit any rain until about 5 minutes from home.  The light was beautiful and many of the flowers that Cristine has planted over the  years are in full bloom.

I especially like these bleeding hearts.
