Jon Crispin's Notebook

Hand Dryer / Sumpter County, SC

Posted in Health, Science, Transportation, Travel by joncrispin on 02/01/2014

Cris and I are back in South Carolina for a quick visit.  On the way we stopped at a rest area on the 95 and as I was drying my hands, the dryer did something I have never seen before.  Must have something to do with germs and ultraviolet light.  I still had to wipe my hands on my trousers though.

So neat! As a nurse, one of our first classroom activities was to sprinkle talcum on our hands & wash them then use ultraviolet to see what we missed….4 years later I still think of that whenever I wash my hands at work.

My friend Ken sent this to me. Very interesting.

    Hi Jon,

    From the hand dryer manufacturer:
“The AirJet hand dryer has an indicator LED on the front of the the hand dryer and shines a blue light on your hands when hand drying is in operation. ….the blue led which provides a visible indication of the drying zone ensuring that the user’s hands are always in the warm air stream.”

It’s not an ultraviolet sterilizing lamp.

    Ken
