Van Ness Metro Station

Posted in public transport, subways, Transportation, Travel by joncrispin on 16/09/2015

I’m in DC for a few days visiting Peter. / The Metro is starting to show its age, but is still a pretty amazing system, and most of the stations photograph pretty well.  I love public transport.

Off to see the Nationals tomorrow night, then home on Friday.

Wow. We don’t anything like that kind of transport in Boulder. Nor have I had it in any place I have ever lived. It looks as if you were “standing in air” to take that picture.

Welcome back to DC, Jon! Glad we had good weather for you! Excellent photo of the Van Ness Metro station. 🙂 I’d be interested in seeing it next week when Pope Francis comes to town! We are expecting epic crowds, especially riding the Red Line of the Metro (of which the Van Ness station is a part of!) I hope you have a great remainder of your visit and a safe trip home! Did you bring Olive with you or is she enjoying a vacation from Dad and Mom?

Carolyn, thanks for the comment. Peter was saying that it is a very good thing that I didn’t come down next week. We saw his childhood friend Tommy on Tuesday who is a Secret Service agent, and he is off to the UN next week, and is really hoping that he doesn’t get Pope duty in Philadelphia too, which could be a right mess. / Olive stayed home, but has been going in to UMASS every day with Cris while she teaches and has meetings. We are amazed that she behaves herself so well (Olive, not Cris). All best, jon
