Cris and I are in DC for a few days visiting Peter.  There are so many nice apartment buildings along Connecticut Avenue, and these two caught my eye this morning.

la reine

These residential prewar buildings are so common throughout the district.  They sure don’t build ’em like they used to.

Sulgrave Manor is also a fascinating small country house in Northamptonshire, England. Tenuous connection to George Washington’s family, and an important location for associative values to the American Colonial Dames, who are the owners of title to the place. That organization claims Sulgrave Manor as ‘sovereign’ American soil. Also important to garden history for several reasons.
