Water Plant
We had a lovely walk in the woods this morning. The trees are just starting to show new growth, and I was pleased to see that some of these water plants (identification anyone?) are starting to appear in the small streams. This one is right near a spot where Olive likes to lie in the water and rub her back on the moss covered rocks.
This is from a few days ago. It might be time for a bath.

Not at that point. I brushed her this morning and she is getting back to yellow.
I love those plants, the way they unfurl. I look for them every year. I’ve never seen them in water though…just near it in shaded areas, but then this year water levels are higher than we’ve had them before (in Massachusetts anyway). I don’t know their name.
kbeck, thanks for your comment. I also saw another colony of them near to these; they were in a very boggy area. Where are you in MA?
Central Mass – Worcester area. I see these plants a lot along the waterways near the Rail Trails.

I wonder if it could be some sort of lady’s slipper (Cypripedium). I’m not familiar with North American plants but a European species looks a lot like that.
