Found my images. Unfortunately I shot straight down on them – it seemed the best angle. My pics are from Spring of 2014, mixed into this album of wild flowers and plants (see link). These get really large (over 2 feet across) and I have not seem them flower but if they are Hellebore or False Hellebore they do (https://captainjamesdavis.net/2014/02/18/poisonous-plants-of-the-united-states/).
All of the ladyslippers I have seen in Central Mass. are much smaller (less than 10 inches high with even smaller leaves (2 or 4 only) some pics of those in the album.
Kimberly, thanks. Hellebore even sounds poisonous. Ah ladyslippers. Just off our deck are hundreds of them. They are protected here in Massachusetts and can not be dug. V fragile in any event, but they thrive in our woods. I’ll shoot some as soon as they come up. Thanks so much for following and for the comments. Jon
