Jon Crispin's Notebook

Golden Coffee

Posted in Architecture, Food by joncrispin on 11/02/2013

My flight to San Francisco went smoothly.  I am staying at the same part of town where Claire Larkin, Peter Carroll, and I stayed when we were working on a project for the Smithsonian American Art Museum.  We came to Golden Coffee for breakfast most mornings.  It is fabulous.  They were still closed this morning when I went out to get tea, but I’ll head over there in a bit to have breakfast and then off to the Exploratorium.

I am SO jealous! Living as I do in Australia I obviously don’t get the chance to pop into the Exploratorium as much as I would like to. Haven’t been there for 20 yrs (I feel so old!) 😉 Enjoy! Beautiful SF & the Exploratorium…2 awesome places to be 🙂 FYI I love your posts – I enjoy seeing the everyday USA – its a great country & I hope to get back one day & show my family how beautiful it is there…cheers!

Colleen, so nice to hear from you. What is so cool is that the Exploratorium is in the process of moving to the Embarcadero on a huge pier jutting out into the bay. Go to google maps and enter pier 15, san francisco and see where it is. Opens in April. Wish you could come over. Great city.

Lovely, clear shot. I have laugh at the white fire plug/hydrant. Obviously San Fran hopes it never snows…might be a problem locating them.

Judy, it’s especially funny as I left 20″ of snow in Massachusetts yesterday and even though the fire hydrants are brightly covered, they were mostly buried. They were evening asking the locals to clear snow away from any hydrants in front of their homes.
