Jon Crispin's Notebook

Sunday Telegraph Magazine

Posted in Asylums, History, Willard Asylum, Willard Suitcases by joncrispin on 09/02/2013

I almost forgot.  Tomorrow’s (10 February, 2013) London  Sunday Telegraph Magazine “Seven” will feature an article on the project written by Lucy Davies.  I haven’t seen it yet, but check it out if you are in the UK.

Hi Jon, I’ve asked my folks back home to save a copy of the Sunday Telegraph piece. Exciting to hear about the SF exhibit – hope it goes well!

Hey Zoe, great to hear from you. Any chance of a return visit to Columbia? I’d love to come back, as I had a blast last time. Cheers, and hope you are well. jon

Darl, just checked out your blog. I still have my first camera. A Brownie Starmite. I think it used verichrome pan 127 film. I think from the mid 1960s. Jon

Cool, I do like the multi-coloured cameras, I have a set of Starflash ones and a load of Imperial cameras. I’ve not done much on my blog for a while, works just got in the way, I’m determined to make up for it this year 🙂

Jon i don’t know if you’ve answered this, but who owns the suitcases now?

AJ, they are in the collection of the New York State Museum in Albany. Best, Jon

Just curious…has anyone attempted to return any suitcase to the family of the owner?

The State Museum has tried to contact families, but with restrictive HIIPA laws it is very difficult to track down survivors. Good question though.
