bricks
Whenever I see bricks, I think of Pieper. There is massive brick production is Bangladesh and he would love it here. With a building boom going on, huge stacks of new bricks are everywhere. The Bangla word on this one is crane, like the bird.
Dhaka night
We arrived in Dhaka just as the sun was going down, but once it did it got dark very quickly. Picked up by Jahangir who drove us up to Mymensingh. Traffic out of town was very tight and the 100 km took well over 2 hours.
Delhi airport
One thing I noticed in the Delhi airport is that most everyone with a job had a thick notebook. They were mostly dog-eared and well used. It could be a legacy of the Raj, as the Brits were well known record keepers.
Hilton pool
It seems like ages ago when Cris and I had a layover at Heathrow, but it was less than a week. We got a day-rate room and some sleep at the Hilton. I’ll post chronologically though, now that we finally have broadband.
Typewriters
Amherst has an amazing typewriter repair shop that has moved around town over the years. The owners are really nice. I often wonder just how they manage to stay in business. When my Dad died, I brought his German keyboard Hermes machine home and gave it to them. The other day when I walked past, I saw it in the window.
